What Is This Service?

We provide several levels of plans tracing services that convert your plans to a CAD file that can be sent to a Laser or CNC cutting Service. The LaserFlight team takes the scanned bitmap of your plans and imports them into our CAD applications. We then use a combination of automated and manual tools to trace along the center line of the component images on the plan. The result is a series of component shapes in vector (line) format as apposed to bitmap pixel format which laser and CNC cutting services cannot use.

So How Do I Get Started?

In order to import your plans to our CAD applications, the plans must be electronically scanned at your local Staples or Office Supplies outlet that has a large format scanner. The scanned plans must be bitmaps and not PDF files. This is very important. We cannot trace PDF files. Bitmaps can be .BMP or .JPG files. .JPG file sizes are generally smaller than .BMP files and are generally the preferred format type.

We have added a small set of instructions here to help you with the scanning process and to ensure you send good plans we can use. Please take a few moments to review the instructions.

Please also reference the "Warning/Special Note" section in these instructions relating to old, hand drawn, damaged, skewed or otherwise distorted plans and the likely results of the parts we trace and the final results on your parts. This section is important for you to understand.

Once you have scanned your plans and zipped them to the smallest file size possible, select the correct plan size from the table below and press the "Buy Now" button. You will be directed to Paypal to make your payment for the service. If you will be sending us more than one plan page, please update the quantity field on the Paypal web page with the number of sheets you are sending. The prices below are per-sheet prices.

Once you have finished your transaction with Paypal, you will be directed to a file upload and e-mail page. Here you will upload your plans pages to us, enter your e-mail address so we can notify you when we're done and we'll take care of the rest. Our turn-around time is dependent on the size and number of plan sheets you send us and can range from 4 to 8 business days.
